Meet the Teacher
Ms. Velasquez
Ms. Velasquez has been in the educational field for the last 20 years. She began her career as an elementary teacher in Miami, Florida where she taught 3rd grade students. After many years in the classroom, she transitioned to Reading/Literacy Coach to serve schools in various regions across Miami-Dade to model, train and implement effective reading/language arts strategies.
In addition to her work at Franklin Academy, she is an Adjunct Professor with Nova Southeastern University College of Education. There she teaches various courses in Reading and Language Arts to prospective teachers who are embarking on a career in education.
Ms. Velasquez holds a Bachelors of Science (B.S.) degree in Elementary Education from Florida International University. She earned her Masters of Science (M.S.) degree with certification in K-12th grades from Nova Southeastern University.
