This is our second week of Benchmark Testing. Therefore, we will still be on a modified schedule. Please be patient as we don't meet with every period every day. Some periods do not have grades entered for last week. This is because the material wasn't covered in depth for me to evaluate their performance in my class.

I intend to finish wrapping up stories assigned last week, and hopefully start the next ones at the middle of the week. If that happens, I will update again with selection names, vocabulary, skill, and quiz and test grades.

2nd Quarter - Week 1 Levels A, B and C.
ALL LEVELS - Due to Benchmark testing, our schedules have been modified. Therefore, we will not meet with all periods everyday, and changes had to be made as far as selections, quizzes and tests. Please carefully read the information below. Also, comprehension quizzes will now replace vocabulary quizzes weekly. Students have been informed. Please make sure students keep up with the reading of the selections at home.
4th Period Level B

We will wrap up 'Rachel the Clever' early this week. The selection test for this story will be Oct. 30th. There will be a 'character quiz' for this selection, date to be announced.

Students will read the selection, The House on Mango Street. The skill taught will be using action verbs. The words for the week are: appreciate, despite, disgusted, expectation, landlord, rent, strength, and temporary. The vocabulary quiz will be on 10/3 and the selection test will be on 10/4.

Students will read the selection, Familiar Places. The skill taught will be statements and commands. The vocabulary words are: agree, community, familiar, festival, native, neighborhood, population, tradition. Vocabulary quiz will be on 10/3 and selection test will be on 10/4.

Students will read the selection, 'Kids are Inventors Too.' The skill taught will be using complete sentences. The words for the week are: ability, design, device, exist, model, problem, solve, suggestion. There will be a vocabulary quiz on the words on 10/3 and a selection test on 10/4.

Review for Exam in class on Tuesday. Please have students reread the story, Growing Together from the online resource, INSIDE, at home. We will have our Selection Test on Wednesday. They will need to have a basic understanding of the story, know the essential vocabulary and know the use of the words, is, am and are. We reviewed all this in class.
